Folks, have you ever seen professional photographers go birding with one of those enormous telephoto lenses? What if you want to photograph birds but do not own a long lens?

Easy—just walk inside the bird cage ^.^

That is essentially how the bird park at Green World works: visitors enter the birds’ enclosure. No telephoto lens required. I reckon even a phone could get some pretty decent shots in there ^.^

All right, photographic evidence. First up, a toucan:

Photographing birds from inside the enclosure certainly keeps you alert—you have to be ready to dodge an air strike at any moment @.@'"

I do not know whether these birds had eaten too much, but they seemed determined to poop while flying. I narrowly escaped a direct hit several times >.<'"

Time to retreat to the butterfly park, where it ought to be safer ~.~'"

Besides explaining butterfly habitats, the butterfly park displayed plenty of insect specimens. I will spare you the gruesome ones and share two of the more presentable exhibits instead:

Outside was a net-covered garden. It was not yet the warm, flower-filled part of spring, so there were no clouds of butterflies fluttering across the garden. This injured butterfly was my one and only catch of the day @.@'"

Lisa, meanwhile, had completed an important mission: “Yay! I finally collected every butterfly stamp ^.^”

On the way back, we came across plum blossoms in full bloom. Taiwan’s national flower! Of course we had to take a few photos ^.^

By evening the weather had begun to turn—the fickle face of spring indeed @.@'"

Lisa and Belle had a wonderful time. All the way home, they kept talking about coming back and bringing Mommy next time. Honestly, this really was a lovely place for a family outing and a day outdoors ^.^
