April 4, 2014 was bright and sunny, so I took Lisa & Belle up to Zhuzihu on Yangmingshan to pick calla lilies.
We turned off Yangjin Highway onto Zhuzihu Road. Because it was a holiday, the road became one-way after Hutian Elementary School, leaving us no choice but to keep going. We passed a few flower fields along the way, but there was nowhere to park, so onward we went.
It was a completely spontaneous outing. When we finally spotted a place to park, we stopped to have a look.

Without doing any research, we simply chose the flower field closest to the car and waded right in XD

For such a random choice, we got very lucky. The field faced the valley and even had a landscaped garden. The view was fantastic ^.^

The calla lilies here grew in a wet field, so we had to put on rain boots before going in to pick them. Some calla lilies are grown in dry fields too. What is the difference? Honestly, I couldn't tell you ~.~'"
Before we entered the field, the owner showed everyone how to choose: look for a flower with a slender, smooth spadix, which means it is fresher.

Once we knew what to look for, everyone could wander through the field in search of a calla lily to take home.

The sky looked warm and sunny, but the cool mountain breeze still made it chilly. After less than two hours, we were ready to head home @.@'"
We continued along the one-way Zhuzihu Road. About five minutes later, we passed a lively little market with mountain-produce restaurants and greenhouse flower fields. Anyone who wanted to stay out of the wind could pick calla lilies inside a greenhouse instead.
Still, if we came back, I would choose this valley-facing field with its lovely view again ^.^
