Xindian: Evergreen Valley

A neighbor happened to mention that their Scout group came to Evergreen Valley every summer for camping and river tracing. I looked it up online and—wow…there was a place for a weekend outing and a splash in the water right on the outskirts of Taipei.

The weather had finally begun to warm up, so today I brought Lisa & Belle along to scout the place out ^.^

The water was clear and the current was gentle. Once the weather grew hotter, it looked like a lovely place to cool off.

The deepest spot seemed to be the area directly below the waterfall. I had heard that plenty of visitors swam there in summer, but it was not quite hot enough today…hmm, maybe not ~.~'"

The creek was in a water-source protection area, where catching fish was prohibited. The man by the water was only fishing for fun; whenever he caught one, he released it back into the creek.

From Bitan in Xindian, we followed Yongye Road along the west bank. The drive took us about fifteen minutes.

When we visited in 2014, Evergreen Valley was privately operated and charged a cleaning fee of NT$150 per person. Inside were pavilions, barbecue areas, washrooms, and a restaurant. Visitors could also bring their own food and camp or barbecue there.

Today was just our scouting trip. Perhaps when the weather grew warmer, we could come back and actually get into the water～～
